So is there any fundamental differences between these two pumps? The 175 pump is on a '94 CTD manual, and the 180 pump is on a '96 CTD auto that is currently down for body work. We're making sure that the '94 is going to dyno as good as it can next weekend. Here is what has been done to the '94

DDP stage 3 nozzles
DDP DV's
Timed 15 degrees
3krpm kit
Mack fuel rack plug
100 plate
HTT S362 65/12

The owner of the '94 is convinced that his truck doesn't accelerate as well as my truck with the mods in my signature. I fully expected his truck to be as powerful, if not more than mine. What do you all think?

The 180 pumps are more desirable than the 175 for making power. The 180s feature a better camshaft design. You can still make quite a bit of power on a 175 though.

Ok, thanks.

With his mods, do you think he should be comparable to my '01?

dont you think you would make more power if you

a) grind a zero plate for it

b) tune the afc

c) bump the timing about 3/4 of a mil

???

wont cost you anything to find out

I just realized that I wasn't very clear in my first post about some of my intentions.

We're thinking of puting the 180 pump on the '94, but weren't sure if that would help us much. Teddybear indicated that it would be better, I'd like to hear from other folks too.

If we swap pumps, we'll put the gsk and 100 plate in the 180 pump, but what about the Mack plug? I've read that this plug isn't necessarily good for all pumps.

a 100 plate takes fuel in the upper rpm's

is that how you plan on achiving max hp?

and with 15° of timing?

the plug is good for all of em but the 215 pump

good luck with it

100 plate is the same is the same as the 0 in the upper end, similar to the 10 in the bottom end.

are you sure?

going from memory (which i will admit - mine aint all that) but pictured the 10 to look like a C, the 100 like a upside down J, and the 0 straight vertical

if i am mistaken i appologize

so much bad info on the net - i dont want to add to it!

are you sure about that?

not trying to be a smart azz but you do understand that the picture is upside down....right?

that is what it would look like viewed from the passenger side of the truck

and like i was saying it pulls fuel at high rpm

if he grinds that ramp off (making it into a 0 plate) as long as there is boost it will have full fuel

(more power)

hope this helps

don

I see your point here with the 0 plate. I'll suggest that. But the reason we went with the 100 is that we heard from a guy or 2 that they only saw more smoke and heat with the 0 vs. the 100 plate.

The truck does smoke pretty good as it sits right now. And he is concerned about advancing the timing too much because he has stock head bolts right now. Also, he doesn't really like to go too high in the rev's any way so he doesn't want to lose any low end torque.

That picture is not upside down. It is the same way that it would be sitting in the pump. Look at the top of the pic and you can see the "flange" where you would put the two screws through to secure it to the governor housing.

A 100 plate will lighten up fueling a bit on the low end but will not pull any up top. The 10 plate does however.

lol

what the heck?

why would they make the 100 plate like that?

rof

my bad, sorry

Some like the low end defueling to help keep from putting out the fire...

I'd rather have a 180 due to the camshaft, but I wouldn't expect a huge difference at that level.

A 100 plate for the softer bottom end, I usually run a #6 for this too as it's even nicer but a zero in my pump is nothing short of violent on the bottom.

Yea a 6 has a fat nose on it were you have to get more RPM before full rack, most people won't spend the money so they cut there own plates. One thing I do know is 5K's and a #6 will not work together, can't get the Gov arm up high enough, 4K's work fine.

With a zero my truck is fine from zero to say 3/4" of foot feed but too much and your going to be on a ride, turbo comes in really quick after that.
