If you don't use the cam sensor, will the truck still charge the batteries an 01 that has been ppumped?

That is an option. Just seeing what else there is to do.

There are more problems than just the alternator. No A/c, tach, and no Lift pump as well. There are ways around that too, but it is easiest to get the cam sensor working.

This is in a 5500 rpm dedicated puller, no A/C, lift pump is only used as a pony pump and has been taken care of. So it will not charge without the cam sensor?

Will the first gen alternator fix it?

Well issue is piece was made, and it doesn't align with the sensor. Well the engine is assembled and my friend is saying it looks like you ahve to mod the cover to do it. He doesnt really want to strip the front end apart, and we are a little leary of drilling it assembled because of the shavings. Are we looking at this right?

Sounds like you have the adapter for the 98-00. It will not trigger the Cam sensor. The computer turns on everything when it sees the cam moving, but the 98-02 adaptor in an 01-02 does absolutely nothing - may as well leave it out.

I have an new 01 adaptor. I will let you try it. If it works for you, buy me one to replace it.
