I'm probably just going to have a local pump shop do it, to save shipping and time.

So I know I'm not getting ripped, how much should I expect it to cost to just max out a 180 pump? And what kinda flow should I expect?

I just had my 175 done at a local shop with a 2095 rack plug and 191's it flowed 440cc's. He charged me 150 bucks to do that and reset the idle.

Im curious to know too Mike, i have a virgin 215 pump in the garage. I would do DVs, mod the AFC, and a GSK first.

Local as in Minnesota? where was that at? i was planning on calling Zips when ever i do ge around to it

150 would be awesome. It's going to have comp DV's, rack plug, and no plate in it already, I'll only need him to handle the rest. Local to me will be grand forks.

I sent mine to Seth (CTDyoungun) @ Diesel Performance Engineering have not heard a single bad word spoken about the man. He does stock pumps all the way up to competition only pumps every day so I wanted someone familiar with high performance.

To max out my 215 pump, add the mack rack plug, & balance it out was barely over $200. I already had HMR 5k's, full cut dv's, and a zero plate he got 600cc's @ 5,000RPM's with mine.

Send it to Seth. Charged me $350 shipped to install the 4k, pin time, balance, rack plug, set it to 600cc, and repop and balance all of my injectors.

Ok, so they shouldn't be charging me over 300 or so. I've already got a 4k in there too.

I'd send it to seth, but that will take more time and include shipping. It's not so much the cost that scares me, so much as the actual shipping process, and the lack of care the shipper has nowadays. And the guy in town has been open for over 40 years, and does all the local pullers, so I'm not worried about his experience level. Just don't want to get ripped off.

Thanks guys!

Ive heard him mentioned on hear before, ill have to give him a call too when/if i get around to it.

Gotsmoke- a mack plug on a 215 pump? doesnt that potentially retard the timming due to the plunger notches, or is that why you run a fuel plate, to limit rack travel?

I don't know....you'd have to ask Seth! LOL

Yes the plug will retard the timing more on a 215 pump over the stock retard. Most people will add a little more base timing to account for it. In Gotsmoke's application the zero plate should negate the extra timing as a fuel plate is the limiting factor and not the rack hitting the mack plug. Sounds like more room to grow without pulling the pump.

I just shipped my pump off to Seth a few days ago. For packing I wrapped it in a plastic bag then used spray foam to fill the box. Took forever to dry as plastic doesn't breath but the pump is totally encased within the box. Took 3 cans so use the cheap stuff. UPS was $47 to ship VA-MO.

Seth gets my vote also for anything Im in no hurry for. He does them quick and the last one turn around was under a weeks time. If I need one done fast I use a local shop but they arent near as good as Seth.

Seth just went through my 911 pump in Sept. $377.33 returned to me, but I had him install and tune a set of CDS 5k's which added about $80. I had 530cc's once all said and done and the truck idled perfectly at 600rpm (SDX Comp DV's). He does top notch work!

Retards timing by an additional degree. According to our dyno graphs the retarding of timing isnt as much of an issue on 215 pumps as people make it out to be.

so it retards 1 degree on a stock pump, or a moded pump without the mack plug? ive been told it will retard it 4 degrees with the mack plug,

I sent a brand new 887 pump to Industrial Injection to be set at 500cc. Cost me $500. Sent it to another shop to be checked because it didn't seem to run any better was told II had just put in a #6 plate. Spent another $500 to get the barrels rotated and re-balance the pump. That time it turned out nice. Shops are different so be careful.

That would be additional. For what its worth the 180 pump on my truck would take 2* less base timing than the 215 pump would to run overall.
