problem with egt gauge

I have Pricol optix gauges and as soon as i start the truck it is running at about 1000 degrees. Could this be right?? My problem with believing it is the guy i bought the truck from who happens to be one of my good friends put them in late one night and i was wondering if he could have wired it up wrong? i have looked at all the wiring and everything looked good. Could i have a bad stepper motor in the gauge? By the way i checked all the intercooler tubes and all was well.

no way its runnin that hot, hell it takes mine 10 minutes of idleing to get past 250. Unless you are just standin on the throttle when you start it up....

Thats what i was thinking there is 0 way that could be correct. I just drove it since i posted this and i got on it alittle and it was buried below 1600

Check you grounds, some of the optix egt gauges had a problem with the ground. I had one in a powerstroke that did the same thing
