Problems after auto swap

Ok so I swapped the 5600 out of my 02 2500 and swapped in an ATS automatic w/ copilot. Couple issues I have been having.

#1 After starting the truck up, I give it some throttle and the engine responds like normal until it hits about 2000 rpm. Then it just stops. Its kind of like dead pedal but it doesn't return to idle. I can let off and get on it again and sometimes it just does the same thing. Usually it comes out of it. After it does it the first time it doesn't do it again until I shut the truck off and then take off again. I've tried resetting the APPS but that didn't help much. So i might try adjusting the voltage and see how that works.

#2 Truck shifts into O/D late at wide open throttle. I adjusted the TV cable until the 1-3 shifts are good but the truck doesn't like to shift in O/D under full load. It hits the rev limiter and defuels. I loose about 15-20lbs of boost and then it finally shifts. Or els I have to release the throttle and get back on it. Any clues here? Maybe an APPS thing too?

#3 I have no fricken brake lights. The third brake light works fine. However, the two bulbs in the tail lights won't come on. Whats up with that?

Truck is an 02 2500 HO pump with SO software loaded into the ECM. All the parts are out of another 02 truck in which the tranny shifted fine. No issues like what I'm seeing. APPS was good too. The PCM is out of a different 02 because the one I was swapping parts with had anti theft and mine did not. Transmission is brand new with about 1500 miles or so on it.

Only other thing I can think of is the speed sensor in the rear axle is bad. However that shouldn't affect the operation for the trans correct? I thought that was only used for the ABS and speedo?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any ideas yet? I won't be able to check the APPS voltage until tonight because I left my meter at work.

Ok got a chance to do some work on this finally.

Still have problem #1. Adjusted the apps voltage but after my best attempts it was still .07 volts low. SO I replaced it with another TPS I had laying around. No change.

#2 I kind of got fixed by adjusting the TV cable. Pulled it out some and it shifts quicker at O/D but still bangs off the rev limiter before it shifts. SO I might adjust it out further but I don't like how long it stays in gear when I am just driving normally. Any way I can have my cake and eat it too?

#3 resolved itself somehow. I have brake lights again.

IT was suggested to me that the fact that I am running a High Output pump with a standard output recovery file loaded into the ecm could be my problem.
However the truck only does it ONCE after each start up. It is repeatable almost EVERY time. It hangs for a couple seconds and then it drives fine. And then it never does it again until I restart.

So what do you think?

find someone with a smarty and I will send you the correct ecm software for the auto. That would be your best bet. No drama please, if you want the software please send me an email.

happy to help .

Your truck is "high ildling" because it had the anti stall software for the maual trans.

Well I think I have a better idea of what is going on. Pulled 2 codes 0500 and 0720 which are both speed sensor codes. Truck went into limp mode today. Max rpm of 2000 and a whole whopping 20 mph all the way home from work.

I replaced the rear speed sensor and there was no change. Speedo still doesn't work Until I hit 15 mph. Truck would not come out of Limp mode. The connector is screwed up by the PO so I will have to buy a new connector. Maybe that will fix that problem.

However with those 2 codes I should be looking at the speed sensor on the transmission correct? Pulled the plug off and hit both of them with wd-40 and pushed them back together. rearranged the wires noticed that they looked like they got crushed at one point.

Drove it around and the truck went into limp for about a second and then snapped out of it like it always did. So it looks like I may replace a couple sections of wire and see if that helps.

I've read that they offer a different plug which is supposed to make a better connection? If I go to the dodge dealership is this the one they will give me? Or do I have to get a part number?
Thanks.

I have problem #1 also but I did a auto to manual swap. I believe it is a PCM issue. Sometimes it will go in limp mode and stay like that for a few days. Right after I did the swap my brake light stayed on constantly and drained the batteries, I adjusted the switch further out and it fixed the problem, I doubt that would help you since your third brake light works. That sounds more like lose wiring somewhere since it fixed itself.

Yeah brake lights have been working ever since with no problems. I had to readjust my brake light switch as well.

Come to think of it you could be right about it being a pcm issue. I don't think the truck ever did it when I had the pcm from the other truck in it. Still have it sitting in the house.

Maybe if I can find a Central Timing Module with Antitheft in it I'll stick it back in and see if it fixes the problem. Otherwise I might pull all the connections off and clean them up real good and see if that helps.

thought I would bring this back up to the top.

#1 turned out to be the speed sensor on the tranny was messed up. Replaced that and everything is fine. Also fixed the overdrive shift.

My main issue now is cruise control. The light doesn't come on at all. We swapped all the stuff over from the other truck wiring harness and all. The cruise control hasn't worked since I did the swap.
About 2-3 days ago the air bag light came on and has been staying on. I can also hear the clock spring when I turn all the way in one direction. I wonder if I didn't get the clock spring centered when I put it back together and messed up the wires. However, I swapped it out with a different clock spring and nothing changed.

Anything else I should be looking at?
