looking to buy a programmer. have a 99 2500 24 valve, long bed quad cab 2wd. been looking at a smarty or edge juice with attitude. any preferences, or maybe one someone would recommend and why?

My preference is "change on the fly" since I grab and drop trailers all the time. The Edge w/ Att works great. With other mods I'm close to probably 500 hp now with it. I would guess the Smarty can get higher numbers but is a stop and program device. That's my $.02

just curious what other mods you got? ive got some done but am sure i need a few more. and do you happen to have studds with that hp or have you not had any problem with the head?

I've since tried a Hamilton 178/208 cam and noticed better low end. I just put in a Hamilton 188/208 cam last Friday and will compared logged data soon. I'd be tickled pink if the new cam bumped me a tad closer to 500hp. :D

I don't have head studs, just the stockers with 175,000 miles on them. I just replaced my first head gasket at 168,000 miles. Still ran fine, just started making my coolant into mud. ;) Torque them to 125 and run 'em.

Keep in mind, I would imagine my truck is in the lower 50% of "fast trucks" on this website, but since you asked, that is what I have. I built mine to pull trailers. She does it with a smile. Normally between 20K and 30K gross and never looks back. :Cheer:

so im new to this site. found it while looking for cat stacks. posted a thread to someone on here that builds them after registering and basically got cussed out by UNBROKEN for it cause i was"bypassing the pm limit" well ya know what it could take me 4 yrs to get 10 thredas, i take care of my rig and dnt post on these sites very often. my ****in bad. i dnt give a **** if your a admin or not, no right to cuss me out and get ****ty, so **** you and this site!!
**** this site....and you are still asking for help? douche bag

Well, I guess it kinda proves I'm nice to everybody, don't it? :hehe:

No. This only proves you like to talk about your truck. Wait 'til someone mentions a bad ground and see how nice you are. lol

thanks. i am still in the process of building this truck and by no means looking for the fastest truck. just a good range hp truck and reliable. the info is def. appreciated

Ive got a quadzilla adrenillan thats a really hot box IMO. it will make a truck turn 4k rpm with plenty of fuel to boot. on higher settings things get very smokey and very hot at 700ft of elevation. but still a good bang for your buck box. oh and best part is....ITS FOR SALE!

How much you askin for it? How long have you had it? You have head studs? If not any issues with yer head?

I love my quad 4k box but not at first because if you have it tuned wrong it bucks

Smart isn't a great chip for vp trucks.... only 65hp and has no boost fooling or direct vp control.
adrenaline has a bunch of issue.... geat hp and tuning is awesome, but software shortcomings plauge it and isn't the best as far as reliability goes
Id recommend either edge juice or comp. Comp has finer adjustability and seems to make a tad more power on the dyno than the juice. Just make sure you get a newer comp as the old ones tended to get on the rag if the cabin was cold.

Smarty in fact does do boost fooling, and if you aren't up to cutting wiring up and installing a BD RAD box it's the closest your going to get to getting rid of torque managment on an automatic. I run the Edge Comp and it is the same exact tuning as the Juice just with less adjustability and it's a great box, and the only issue I've run into with it is when it is cold out the box won't turn on with the first key cycle, so all you have to do is cycle the key again and away you go.

the comp isnt the same exact tuning. There are slight differences, especially with the hardware-side. To confirm this all you have to do is disconnect both edges from a map sensor. The comp will fuel as if @ 19psi, the juice will throw a code and not fuel properly.
