I was wondering if anybody has the MSD Propane Kit for thier 7.3?
I like it because of it's computer monitoring for safety reasons. Does anybody have any Brand of propane systems and do you have to adjust idle or any other settings, or is it plug and play?:thankyou2:

i have hte powershot2000 setup, its boost referenced, set at 5psi stock, propane flow increases a pound per minute up to 10lbs after that its full flow. the flow is adjustable up to 6 turns. the starting point for the propane flow is also adjustable, comes with a regulator set at 40psi, a nice set of switchs and a solenoid to turn the system on and off.

Hey pwrstrk again...

I think were both on these two threads, I was looking for info for the MSD Kit. But like I said in my other reply, I am going to install a new TURBO and InterCooler first, I just put in 70 hp injectors and My mech DJ says I need way more air to match the new increase in fuel flow, So air first and Propane after , My rig burns /NOT/ discharges more SOOT  and I have got to get it under control 1st. When I get my flow balanced with the fuel I am going to TOP it off with Propane, BUT No mistake these new Injectors:woohoo: are wicked FAST..........

Hpop?

Excuse my lack of Knowledge, But what does HPOP stand for?:aiwebs_029:

High Pressure Oil Pump

It feeds those bigger injectors oil to fire them. If you run don't get enough oil to them because the HPOP can't keep up, you go nowhere.

Hpop Thanks

It does'nt seem to be starving on the dyno unless it's not an air problem and it's a fuel pressure issue. Thanks for the info
on the dyno on chip settings 3 and 4 it is getting to much fuel.
That's why I am going to add a GTP38R ASAP HOPEFULLY Mon AM

part of the smoke could be attributed to lack of hpop pressure, you should put a diagnostic scan tool on it and check the HPOP pressure at wide open. my truck cant even handle a 140hp tune with stock injectors and stock hpop, smokes like crazy, still makes more power then my 100 setting but it doesnt run the way it should. do you loose any performance after having ur foot more then half way to the floor?

lost perf ?

No way , This thing MOVES BIG TIME:ylsuper:
I have a good mech down here in So Fla, Just ordered a detroit locker for the rear. No loss of power at high speed. Just wicked acceleration.
On the inertia dyno (steel drum) The comp chip position number 3 and 4 dump too much fuel and my HP increase starts to fluctuate. I have been told by two prominent Diesel racers "Domingo of DJ Diesel Perf, and Gabby at GAW, That my problem is not enough air. Hence the bigger Turbo I plan to install with a new interCooler. So far the tech at Garrett said that the BB turbo would increase air flow at lower RPM'S. This is where
were I smoke ALOT.
I will have my HPOP checked , it can't hurt.
I appreciate your time in replying, I will let you know via follow up if the HPOP was a factor, THANK YOU.

sounds good man, your truck looks sick, let me know how that GTP38R works for ya, im looking at getting one for my 99.

Update

Thanks for the props, your rig is no slacker either.
I'll let you know how the Garrett works, my friend has one but lives 2hrs away from me. I'm planning on seeing him this weekend so I can here this BB Turbo in action. Thanks , I'll be gettin back soon.

let me know how that thing sounds! i want my truck to sound like a jet funny car.

Just ordered the Garrett GTP38R and A DIIC

Ordered on Tuesday 7-25
1 new Ball Bearing Turbo The Garrett GTP38R and the Diesel Innovations new Intercooler w/ tech from Garrett. Said to run close to 100% efficiency.
I also will be installing a Detroit Locker and a Mag HyTek Diff Cover.

I'll keep posting results here on this thread I should have all materials within 5-6 bus days and another 1-2 at the Shop. Hopefully by 8-8-06 I should be done.:ylsuper: I got great feedback from this forum but it was always a person who did or didn't sell this or that Turbo or somebodys friend who had one, never have I talked directly with a Garrett GTP38R owner or have I heard this thing in person. I will be making a new thread that talks about what if any problems I may encounter, and what my exp are along with Dyno info. :rockwoot:

Closer NOW

Getting CLOSER TO THE GOOD TIMES :ylsuper:

Stay Tuned for a new thread labled
The Installation and performance of The GARRETT GTP38R BB Turbo on a 2002 7.3L PSD:rockwoot:
I'm installing a Detroit Locker in the rear Diff My Truck is a F350 SRW 2X4.

Track ???

Yes , but I didn't run it because at the time my Factory Tubo was fried on my trip up to Orlando Speedway, I am on my second OEM Turbo, as you know the Garrett is on the way:bigsmile:
The truck Dyno'ed at 346 RWHP on setting #2 on my custom tune. I have a four (4) Position Chip and saw not much improvement on setting 3 and 4. The truck was not getting enough air on the dyno and the engine computer began going into a defueling mode cycling erratically, I don't think it's a problem with my HPOP but if I have the same problem on the Dyno after inst the new Turbo (garrettGTP38R) and InterCooler I am going to look into upgrading the HPOP. The main reason I think my HPOP is workin fine is cause on setting 3 and 4 at highway speeds i have no lagging or defueling cycles just pure seat in the pants acceleration. I think I will install a F.A.S.S. down the road to ensure the engine get's all the good clean fuel she starves for. I already use the FS-2500 ByPass Oil Filter. I also bought a MagHytek Diff cover to be installed when I put in the Detroit Locker. I'll keep ya posted..

The GTP38r is a good turbo, as far as sound it is quiter then the ATS-WW combo I had before. Been a PIA with oil leaks, had to pull it three times and it still leaks a little.

I did 351hp with mine on stock injectors and water-meth... But I have blown the plastic end tanks on the IC and cant get over 25-27# boost right now...

leaks ?

Hey , do you have a GTP38R BB Garrett Turbo ? Is that whats leaking oil ?
have you ( i'm sure you did) checked the O rings at the pedastal base. They are suppose to be a problem area, Do you think it's a problem with the casting. I would be prone to think that since Garrett makes the OEM Turbo, that their upgrade would be a degree more reliable. Anyway , I'll post any problems I encounter,
I had to send the InterCooler back because it was delivered DAMAGED:bang

The replacement Intrclr got here on the 10th, I am set to install
1. Replacement GTP38R Garrett Turbo Ball Bearing Upgrade
2. Diesel Innovations Intercooler
3. AFE Stage 2 Intake
4. Detroit Locker
5. MagHytek Diff Cover
This week coming UP.....:woohoo:

im still going to hold firm as some1 else mentioned that u need more oil.. what kinda #'s are u getting from the chip? as far as hp increases along with the 70hp injectors.. im sure big oil will help.. it will calm ur numbers and make the lines much more sloped.. im sure som1 with big oil will agree with me on it
