How are you suppoust to keep the rings in the head while you set it on the motor? I sure this is very easy and i'm just to stupid to think of it :bang lol

If you put the gasket on the alignment dowels you can put the rings inside the cutouts then set the head down on the block.

They are pressed in. They hold themselves in the groove.

thanks guys i just got home with the head and figured thats how it went.

The place that cut the rings didn't put them in for you?

I've heard most just tap them in with a light mallet (not a hammer). Make sure that you point the openings of the rings toward a passage that doesn't have coolant or oil (all of mine are pointed toward a headstud hole).

Get them tight. No distance between the start and finish of the wire. They will not come out without some serious persuasion.

setting the ring on the gasket/deck is only on fire-ringed apps., because on o-ring the steel insert is still in the gasket and they are the same diameter.$.02

yes I would have thought the shop would have installed the rings. Typically you cut a .049 groove and use a .051 wire. I install the wire with a brass drift punch. then sand the ends so there is a hardly a seam. Every once in a while you will have a ring that will want to jump out, I will put some super glue on that one then hold it in till it drys.

We use 0.042in wire into a 0.039 groove. Stainless wire and angle cut the wire. I used epoxy to keep the wire ends in the groove. Oring protrusion around 7-8 thou
