First off let me start by saying, I don't know Jack Schit about the Duramax, other than the normal tuner/chips, intakes, exhaust, etc. That being said, I have a few questions.
1. What kind of range price wise, could a guy pick-up an early Crew Cab 2wd short bed with over 100,000 miles, usual equipment, windows, locks, tilt, cruise,etc..
2. What would it take to make a usable 400Hp?
3. Could this be daily driven, and what kind of fuel economy would you be looking at if driven with a light foot?
I appreciate any info you guys have-Nicholas

I have an '04 LB7 2500 EC cab.
17-18mpg unloaded on the freeway at about 70MPH. My dad can get 21mpg but he's 100% stock and I don't think his truck has ever been over 60mph...
Most any tuner/chip can get you to 400 rwhp. But you will need to build up the tranny and tierods. Yes you should be able to daily drive it. I have for the last 40k miles.
'01-'04-first gen LB7 motor has injector issues. GM extended warranty 7 years 200k miles.
'04.5-2nd gen LLY motor no injector issues but some (could) overheat when loaded.
Stock intake works fine up to around 600rwhp.
4" (down tube back) exhaust should drop your egt's 150-200 deg's.

For 15,000 dollar u can have 1 picked up and build with the tranny the way u want it dont forget a lift pump

What needs to be done to the tranny to support 400 rwhp?

I did a triple disk torque converter and suncoast stage III. It's good up to about 500 rwhp. About $3800 parts and labor.

didnt mike L put together a kit for 425-450hp range basicly for guys that just want to run beginer turners ie edge, banks, predator, hypertech and want not?

2wd @150k shoudl be close to 10-15k pending condition
