Quick help needed on fuel issue

Hello all.I have been looking at a 1989 fummins with a p-pumped 24 valve.It has an air dog 150 which the owner says went out.So he ran a parts store pump up with the fuel line going into the air dog &a wired the new pump off a toggle switch. Today when I go to look at the truck I plan to bring some extra wire fuses to make sure there is not a bigger problem e.g. Grounded wire on the air dog or something causing it to run hot &blow a fuse.Is there any trouble shooting tips that you guys could give?I have no idea how to troubleshoot the air dog motor.Also could running the pump off a toggle switch harm anything? Thanks in advance.

I'll troubleshoot the airdog for you in a few simple words. If it's running hot and blowing fuses, it's phucked up and needs replaced.
