I dont know how cops are in your area, but they are nasty here, so if you have a detector thats the chit or know of one give a guy some info. :thankyou2:

Don't speed. LOL

I like my Valentine1. It did good until there were 2 officers shooting laser about 200' apart. That's ticket number one. Ticket #2 happened with no other vehicle around and no where to hide. Ticket #3 was where I found out that the city by-laws won't let you keep a boat trailer in the front yard. I don't know how the radar detector could have helped that?

brandon.

I also like my Valentine1. I have only had one warning with it! Good rule of thumb like Brandon said, "don't speed."

I usually dont speed, but its those split second spur of the moment urges when a mustang pulls up next to me that i get into trouble.only got caught once though.

i dont speed that much ether but when i need to my cheap wal-mart detector works pretty good, havent got caught yet!!:evil

The Valentine One is awesome. Not only will it tell you which direction the radar is coming from, it will tell you how many are hitting you. It's worth every penny.

V-1

I have a '97 vintage and it still works great. Years after I bought it the side arrows went out so I sent it in with a $35 check per their website instructions and it was back in a week along with my check! You can run your serial number via their website to see if they recommend a re-flash or upgrade and the last I checked a few years ago they didn't. Also, at any time you can send them your old V1 and they will pro-rate the price on a new V-1.

My brother bought a Passport 8500 new off eBay because he could buy it cheaper than a used a V-1. That's great except every time he goes into a parking lot he hits the mute button regardless of mode to kill the false door alarms. My V-1 doesn't false on radar doors.

Passport sent me a mailing today on their new 9500i or something and they now use GPS to avoid known false door radar alarms. Meaning you must go into the parking lot, mark the false alarm and the detector remembers it next time.

Fudge that. My driving rarely takes me to the same town every year let alone the same shopping center.

FWIW- I have roughly 500K miles on my V-1 and I can think of one time where laser detection did me any good and it was only because the car in front of me was shot at such an angle it went through his glass and hit the V-1. Other than that if the laser alarm goes off I've been nailed but this is true with any other laser detector as well.

You can pick them up on Ebay for a bunch less. You'll notice that they list the serial number. You can take that number and enter it on the V-1 site and it will tell you what programming it has, just like someone above mentioned. I picked mine up up in "like new" condition for $300.

I have belived if its outlawed in 3 or more states its a descent dector

I ordered mine through the 800 number and it seems like it was about $400 back then.

I have a 400 dollar BEL that works really well. those and the escorts are good.

Guys,

I love my Valentine:snoop:

I travel thru 8 towns that are heavy into running radar everday. IT WORKS BEST.
You might want to ask if your next purchase is upgradeable, mine is.:kick:

I have tried the escort, & bel. I find this working the best.$.02

WAYNES WORLD

Just bought my Fiancee the escort 8500 50X. SHe speeds all the freakin time, and has had 4 tickets this year. Luckily we know several APD police that "help" us out.

in our family we are partial to Escort..we have 7 escorts..and none of us have had a speeding ticket in years..(knocking on wood) I really like escort. I have the 8500 blue in my truck..It does very very well.
