Has anyone tried a eaton rd405 rear ? I can get one dirt cheap and was looking for some imput on this. It will be going in a 2.6 truck.

axle shafts are 1.87" diameter 15.?? ring gear, 40k weight rating. my concern would be the strength and ability to use/remove the diff lock on it.

Weld it up and run it. The 405 is every bit as strong as a Rockwell, (SQHD, Meritor) Pretty sure you can get 6.14 gears for it.

It depends on if you want to go to all the work making it fit.
Same amount of work to fit SQHD or 20145 and you can get parts for them

I think I'm going to just find a sqhd or 20145. Can't find all the parts I would like to build the 405. Thanks for all the input

I have a 20145 for sale in New Jersey if you are interested
