Well im getting my truck ready for this pulling season as some of you know, gonna be pulling in the 2.6 class. Hoping to get 650-700hp out of my ppump 24v. Right now my rear D80 is all stock, it has 3:55 gears. What kind of upgrades should i be looking to do the rear end? Detroit locker? Not really sure what what the mini spools and full spools are. But how hard would it be to put in a locker? And other upgrades i should be looking at doing the the drivetrain to make sure it holds up. Thinking of going with 1480 u joints and yokes.

I would go with either a spool or a locker. If your going to go with any street driving put in a locker. ARB gets my vote.

Forgot to mention truck will be on the street several times a week. Which locker do i need the? looked on puredieselpower.com and saw one for a 35 spline and one for a 37 spline.

OEM shafts are 35 spline. Unless things have changed Detroit didn't make a D80 3.55 locker when I got mine a couple of years ago. Guy @ my local 4x4 shop had to take a D70HD unit and drill out the ring gear bolt holes. Has worked flawlessly ever since installed!:rockwoot:

yea i was looking a bit closer and doing some searching and i only for a detroit locker for 3:54 and 4:10 gears.

Greensburg Machine modifies a Detroit Locker to fit the D80 with 3.54 gearing.
