I THINK my rear freeze plug is going out, deteriorating, coming out, i dont know but its leaking coolant from the back of the block...so i ordered the rear bolt in freeze plug from Haisley Machine. with a hole threaded in the middle for a coolant return... i read it isnt a good idea to directly return the coolant back into the cooling system so can i thread a bolt in that hole and close it up and be ok? or if its not such a good idea can i close it up and get a coolant bypass kit like the Wicked Diesel one? or am i better off throwing a stock freeze plug in and still doing the coolant bypass?

I assume i would need some kind of coolant bypass kit if i bolted this plug in the back or i would probably blow other plugs out...

Heres the plug

I just recieved my bypass from wicked diesels but,....it seems to be only 3rd gen specific. Thats as far as mounting goes unless Im missing something? I did notice that if I were to drill the two mounting holes out just a pinch that I could mount it to my manifold studs.

I could have swore that I seen one on here that was on a 2nd gen...? Sorry to highjack but it looks like a very nice beefy part. I sent him an email asking so Ill let you know if you decide to go with wicked diesel

Yep, 3rd gen are different.

I have that part from Haisley, I made my own bypass from it and T'ed it into the top radiator hose with a ball valve inline. When on the street or warming up the valve is closed, after warmed up pulling it's open.

Today I lined the kit all up and it will work if......a bracket is made to bolt the bracket the kit comes with to. Otherwise the bracket the kit comes with will bolt right to the exhaust manifold if you have studs or just use the bolts that hold the manifold on. You will have to drill the holes out on the bracket just a tad and lengthen the braided lines but all the hardware can be used from what I see so far.

Cummins makes a factory one for the ISB, can't find the part number or the picture anymore but I know they make one.
