I was thinking about this the other day. I currently run a 3" lift in the rear consisting of a 1.5 block and a 1.5 add a leaf. The add a leaf makes the ride stiff but manageable. I was thinking if I took out the add a leaf and put in air bags will I be able to get an 1.5 lift out of them and get a smoother ride? Also will this start a problem with wheel hope?

I would think it would depend on the overall lift capability of the bag, to determine ride height. If you are maxing it out at 1.5" then it would probably ride worse; yet if the bag doesnt need to be inflated a ton to lift, then you would be good.

Yes, add a leafs prevent axle wrap pretty well, so you would be risking more wrap (hop)

Airing up a load assist bag when empty to gain lift will make for a stiff ride

Why not just pull the leaf and the 1.5" block and put an angled 3" block?

Thats what I had but the wheel hop was really bad. I could do a 3" block with ladder bars.
