Looking at getting a locker for my d70 and I dont want to spend 650 for a detroit nor do I want to weld it up, so Im looking at a lunch box locker (lock-right), has anybody run one in a higher hp rig? I use to run one in my D60 on my off road rig and I was very impress with the strength, but I was running a 300hp 350ci, not a 500hp cummins. So any comments would be helpful.

I wouldnt waste the money on the 70. if anything sell it and buy a d80 and then put a locker in it.

Not what I was looking for, but honestly, if the d70 goes, Im getting a 14bolt. Might not be as strong as the 80 (stronger than the d70 though) but, I can get 5 of them for the price of the cheapest D80, Ive found, and the locker is half the price. And I know how to set one up, I dont have a clue on how the dana sets up with the shiming and all. Also I like the extra pinion bearing the 14bff has.

Also I wont be sled pulling just a 1/4 once or twice mainly just dd.

I had a PowerTrax No-Slip unit (not the cheap Lock-right).
Unfortunatly, I never installed it because I cam across a Detroit Tru-Trac fro $200.
Before I bought the Powertrax unit, I searched on all the forums and it seemed like there was a handful of guys running them without problems.
I remember one of them was in the 600hp range.

I just sold it on here for $300 a couple months ago, but I cant remember for the life of me who it was.

Well If You Truly Wont Ever Be Pulling But 1 Or 2 Times Then Yes I Would Go Ahead And Buy A locker, I Just Assumed You Were Pulling With The Locker...lol I PulleD on My Dana70 For 1 Year Making 550hp And Never Broke It, I Never Left Really Hard Though And Made Sure I Was Spinning When The Sled Was On Top Of Me.

X2

I have a cheap Lock-right, and I'm around the 550 mark and put 25 pulls on it this yr and never had a problem.

i went to the local wrecking yard and traded my open dif d70 (163,000 miles) for a posi d80 out of an 02 6spd truck (less then 100,000).... cost me 400 bux and my old dif. and i got disk brakes and a posi out of it... made me happy... except that the old power lock doesn't like to lock up unless its wet pavement or gravel... no 2 wheel burnouts for me :nail:
