Rear QC door wont open.......help please.

The bottom latch is broke on my 01 truck and can not open the rear drivers side door. I have removed panel , took off nuts and cut the studs off with a die grinder to try and slide the door over the broken latch with no luck. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm sure you already checked this but figured I would ask anyways. Are you sure it's the latch and not just the rod that runs down and pulls the latch open? Sometimes they come loose right at the handle.

So there is no movement in the lower part of the door?

My lower latch was not "completely latched", but it would not let me open the door.

I was trying to remove a full interior from a junkyard, both rear doors were rusted shut so I placed a friend in the back seat and let him kick it open while I held the latch open. Thought they would never come open.

This is how I got mine open, but like I hinted at, the latch was partially released - I just couldn't open the door all the way.

Ok, this is how I did this. I put a wedge between the rocker and the door and pushed up on the door so it could see the latch. The latch has plastic around the bottom, so I took a small chisel and broke the plastic.

I broke it all the way across the outside of the latch so I could see insides.

And then I put a screwdriver on this part of the mechanism and tapped it back towards the rear of the truck and just like magic..... it opened!!!! :bang
