Anyone run one? They are from Transstar1.. seems to be a good company, and my trans man is trying to make the previous build right. It appears that the converter he installed was just a p.o.s. So there is the question.. Anyone have any experience with Transstar or the Recon converters that they sell? I am very anxious to get a low stall converter, and this seems like a decent route.
 
They are junk!!!!!Transtar is a supply company for oem applications.We will not use any recon convertor for even car applications from them!!!!
 
Transtar/Axiom is the biggest transmission parts distributor in the world... But that's in the world of stock pieces. They offer lower stall, converters with some goodies in them, but even at my price it's the same money to go with a trusted aftermarket company. That and they wanted me to test one of their triple discs to see what it could hold up to (they only rated it at 750ft/lbs). They're trying, but not hard enough and I didn't want to be a guinea pig.

Otherwise they sell good Borg-Warner and Raybestos rebuild kits that are of excellent quality. I use them for soft parts, shift kits, VB updates, and the occasional hard part every once in a while (depends on what it is). I wouldn't quite say they are garbage though.

That's been my experience as well. Every tranny that I've built has had some of their parts in them and they work just fine.

I've never used one of their converters though so I can't comment on that. I would be looking at some other options if the tranny is going behind anything other than a stock motor though.
 
Well.. good to hear this ahead of time before I run into the same problem all over again.. Thanks for the feedback guys.
