Redline.... what to stack for timing

What is everyone running with their Redline to get timing and everything? i am looking at something but didnt know what was necessary. i was thinking smarty but wasnt sure....

Smarty would be a good bet.

I love my FMS / Smarty stack.

I don't have that nasty shutter when I let off like the TST and Comp sometimes do.
 
If smarty can get the RPM out of the VP44 I would think that would be a decent setup. The good old edge boxs work pretty well.
 
I like the Type "R" ( plugs in the pump only ) Power Puck, with the Redline box. It seems to be the only box I've tried that acually can keep up with the redline the whole way through.
 
according to Chip nothing is gonna be able to to do any timing that high in the rpms due to the actual limits of the pump. but being that the Type R plugs into the pump and doesnt go through the ECM it may or may not be able to add timing up to the limit of the pump, where as the smarty being loaded in the ECM gets ignored.

thats just what I know from numerous phone conversations with Chip Fisher the maker of the redline.
 
Where the timing can come into play is in the 3300 rpm or so range. When I asked Chip what the timing was at 3900 he just shrugged his shoulders. A few years back he was working on a box to control the timing at the upper RPM. I am guessing he gave up.
 
he told me its not about being able to control it, its that the pump itself doesnt have the ability to do what you are asking. he said one reason the monster pumps were working so well was because the builder was doing some things to allow it to have more timing at high rpms.
 
where do i pick up that Type R at? ive already got a puck, if its a matter of reprogramming, im game.

Not entirly true, when they first came out they were all Type R and since they have gone to Canbus and the map to incorperate boost fooling. You can get Type R for 01 and 02, you may have to buy used, troll around ebay I've seen they in there from time to time.
