Im looking at painting the interior panels sense most of them are sun bleached, any body gone through the trouble? howed it come out pics would be great.

im also looking at pulling the carpet and spray lining the floors but i have some wires and cable running under it any body have any tricks to hiding them with out the carpet there?

and have any good links for getting a new headliner?

check locally for seat repair places, they usually do headliners too! I was quoted $100 for my regular cab. Hope this helps. If not try lmctruck.com they have about everything for these

I completely redid the interior of my old 12v. Its not hard at all to do a headliner. I've done quite a few of them. Just get what ever color of material you want and make sure its a little elastic so you can stretch it some to get all of the wrinkles out. And the same goes for the door panels. I bought about 5 cans of spray paint adhesive so the paint will stick a lot better and wont fish eye on you. And make sure you get plastic paint. I think I used krylon paint or rustoleum.

For the floor you could easily buy some sort of j channel like for house wiring or what ever its call and just double side sticky tape it to the floor and then just do your spray lining over top of it.

Here are some pictures of my old truck.

Holsky did you drill the rivets to get the dash off the metal frame? Word of advise don't use "interior spray paint" I bought some from advance auto and did my whole interior and it strated scratching off. I'm gonna fix mine up this summer AGAIN. LOL

hope you did the heater core and ac coil while you were in there.

If you go to an automotive paint suppy store they can mix you any color paint you want. PPG makes interior paint specifically for plastic parts. I have used it a few times and it works great.

Well I kinda got lucky and the original dash was cracked to hell so I just basically broke most of it out and bought another one to put back in. But believe me I didnt put every screw back in. LOL

That is one of the worst designs ever. And yeah I just drilled them out and ended up putting self tappers back in.

And you are right about the paint. Mine didnt scratch off easy, I mean something really had to dig into it before it would start to come off. But I really didnt have any issues at all with it. Its all about the prep work.

Ok looks easier your way than taking it all the way out. After I did my interior a month later I had to do the heater core so I do have the dash removal done pat. Mine squeks when the truck is cold and the engine is shaking the truck lol, so I think I'm gonna put felt where the pastics mate up next time.

has anyone tried the vinyl spray paint ay oreillys i done one on a dodge and my buddy done one on a chevy it works pretty good also

Holsky, any pointers on putting the newer style trans/tcase shifter console in the 97 and older trucks, looks like you used the new tcase shift.

I give my interior guy a lot of work I have deck boat seats there now and its about $1000 job and he knows i have more boats headed his way so he cuts me a good deal. Said he would do my 12v seats, arm rest center and door panels over in pleather (showed me the material and its NICE!) $275! Im thinking about doing black alligator inserts and a black headliner new carpet and possibly dyna matt the floor/fire wall :D

I just found a good set of seats in a half ton at the junkyard down the road for $150. You should of seen my face when I opened the door on the truck it had to be priceless! LOL

Well it wasn't bolted down or anything, it just sat there. The truck used to be an auto, but was converted over to the nv4500. So we had to cut the floor out a little bit. Plus I never managed to hook back up the 4x4 linkage and what not so I really cant give you any good info on it and how to mount it.

The interior paint tends to scratch really easy. You might want to try a coat of epoxy primer under it. I covered my new wiring with a layer of the foil covered 1/4" closed cell foam duct insulation from Home Depot. It protects the wire and dampens the road noise. Just make sure you're 100% done before you cover the wire.

Im in the process of pulling the dash on my 95 with intentions of painting it as well... Having trouble getting it out. Its not cracked so I dont want to force it.. Anyone have some suggestions?

Did you unbolt the steering wheel, and take the wiring harness off the dash and leave it in the truck.
