relocate cam sensor?

hey guys im doing a p pump swap on a 1999 24v and wondering if i need to install the cam sensor or if i can just keep the timing plug? the 24v p pump swap faq sticky says i dont need to but the wording is a bit unclear so i thought i better ask just to make sure before i get it all together and find out my guages dont work :nail:

I installed the cam sensor just to be safe

99's shouldn't need it. I didn't do it on my 99 and everything works as it should.
