I am headed on a pretty long road trip and was wondering if taking out the front driveshaft would help out with my mileage at all.

Anybody done this? Pros Cons(besides not 4 wheel drive)

It only takes like 20 minutes to take it off or put back on, you could just take it off and see??? Keep the driveshaft with you in the toolbox so if you get to your destination and it didn't help just slap it back in.

the front drive shaft on an 02 doesnt spin because of the slide ring in the ft axel assembly. when u put it in 4wd, vacume advances a diaphram to move it onto a inner axel to connect it to the outter(passenger side). unless u have a locker I wouldnt waste ur time. have a buddy move ur truck while u watch it" no spin in 2wd" (DONT GET RAN OVER !):hehe:

Some of the 02 don't have the cad system

Correct. Some dude tried to tell me the other day I didn't have a CAD under my truck and he SWORE I was wrong and told me to look again. I told him to go crawl under it and if there wasn't one I'd kiss his ass in front of the pope.

I don't see it making much difference. I'd like a manual hub kit ultimately but it is cheaper to buy an extra gallon of fuel each tank for 10 years. :D
