Removing Fuel Heater/pre Filter Question

I want to know from someone that has removed this from behind the mechanical lift pump if there is anything else that needs to be done??Without the thickness of the housing there is it going to bottom the pump out?

I cut the spacer off of the fuel heater and re-installed it due to the fact that there needs to be a spacer in there.

scrapped my heater as well but the mine is an old 12v ! heater is to far away to be effective and is just a good sorce for an air leak .

I just cut the spacer part off of the bracket and use it.
