Well i have a syncro that is going out so i need to take the tranny out so i figured i would atleast take it out myself then take it in to get fixed. How hard is it to pull it? does the transfercase some out with it? I have removed a ford e40d out of my stroker but not one of these. Does anyone have a write up? any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

T case comes off first, then the hard part begins, getting that @*&^!@($#%!&^ crossmember out. Other than that it's really straightforward and simple. Just don't drop it on yourself, that smarts.

get a port-a-power to spread the frame a little. there is 2 large holes in the frame on either side of where the t-case is. that will make removing the crossmember much much much easier! i always pull the trans and t-case together. but i have a shop with the right tools. you very well could pull the t-case first. definitely remove the 4 bolts attaching the trans to the bellhousing and pull it that way. its just much easier to get to the bell bolts with the trans out, if your pulling the clutch. if your not no need to remove the bellhousing.

I had mine out in 2 hrs. start to finish.....My crossmember came out easy but went back in hard. Nothing a large slammer cant take of. I dont think you should have any problems...I pulled the T-case with the trans w/ bellhousing on. Your choice, Good luck.

get a port-a-power to spread the frame a little other then that is not hard take your time

Get a transmission jack. They are soooo much easier than a plain ol' floor jack.

Ditto what roachie said, and if you had the 6spd, you can't hold it with a floor jack, or two! Reference comment on dropping tranny LOL LOL
