Anyone know how to bypass the ABS so I can remove the clump of junk from my truck? I have other stuff I want to put in its place.

98 12 Valve Auto.

Thanks in advance!

no, but useless is right. My truck had sat for a while, first trip to town right rear locks up with LIGHT pressure,on wet roads, swwop! swoop!! I wa slucky to get stopped.

So much for 4 wheel abs.

We usually just run the fused ABS circuit through a toggle switch in the panel... sounds like you want to dump the hardware as well w/o generating codes?

I removed mine in my 95. This was a while ago so I dont remember line locations. Its pretty straight forward though. Just unhook the lines from the master cylinder to the abs unit. Unhook the lines from the abs unit to the presure divider. Then make some new lines to go from the master cylinder to the divider.
Then remove the abs unit and associated hardware. As for the wiring, I tried to remove it all by going through all the looms but it proved to be more work then I was willing to do. So I just cut the wires off as short as possible.
You will have to live with a brake light and abs light on in the dash. Or do like I did and just remove the bulbs $.02

Anybody remove the ABS stuff from a late model 2nd gen and have the speed-o quit working? what am I missing?

My truck is beyond codes LOL..

I just want to dump the hardware :)

Garrett I think you have a good point to base something on here. I am not picking on you but on everyone that is at this point.

If you remove the ABS are you still going to pull in a class that requires your truck to be licensed and Insured? This is one of the things that makes a truck an all out puller or a fun ride that you pull in. I say if you gut some portion of the brake system then it moves into the non street classes.

Jerrod, I rent alot of cars through work...many of them don't have any ABS on them (2009's, mostly Chrysler products)
I guess I don't see where you are going with that?

My truck is completely past street classes at this point.

I could probably "technically" pull in the 2.8 NADM class, but I am not going to bush down to 2.8. I will be running super street or 3.0 depending on where I hook.

My truck has been an all out puller since the 2007 season. *no I'm not saying this with attitude*

The classes I pull in don't even require rear brakes.
I don't HAVE to have insurance anymore now because I paid the truck off yesterday! :hehe: (I'm dead serious)
It does need to get insured for a cash value though ASAP!

I will pencil you in for a visit late 2012
