I finally broke the 1 1/4" input shaft on my 2000 NV5600. The question I have is it possible to upgrade to the newer 1 3/8" input shaft on these like the 4500's? I know where I can get one I just didn't know if they are interchangable.

Thanks,
Rick

I thought all NV5600's have the 1 3/8" input from factory?

nope not the 99 and 00's, trust me I put the clutch in it.

Yes you can but it has to be an input shaft out of a 6 speed. It is not an easy upgrade like the 5 speed. You have to pull down the transmission.

Don;t buy just the input shaft either as you will need a new front bearing retainer to go with the bigger input and yes you do have to tear the trans completely down to replace the input shaft.

I also have a 2000 w/ a 6sp. i know u have to tear the trans completely down to install the new shaft with the bigger input bearing and if it was me i would also look into putting all new bearings in. if i have to do it to mine i would just so i know there all good and hopefully it wouldnt have to come out again anytime soon. What kind of clutch are u runnin in it and if u liked it, im gonna need one in mine in the near future.

I am saving to do the same thing to mine. I have heard you have to tear the whole tranny down to replace the input. How did you break it???

Let the clutch out at a Stop sign, hopped a couple of times and just nothing, came to a rolling stop. Hopefully I will get it apart on Friday...

Sorry ya has the Haisley Street Puller...year and a half since rebuild, should be interesting to see it's current condition.

:bang....well the input shaft wasn't broke, clutch looks to be in good enough condition to make it to the winter. I am totally confused, we took it apart, trans seems to work fine in every gear. I put it back together most of the way to see what would happen and everything appears to be working now??? Has anyone seen this happen before? A buddy of mine told me that in his RoadRunner every once in a while the McLeod DD would just do nothing and after starting it a couple of times in gear it would work just fine. Seems a little weird to me. Going to be going to a South Bend this winter it looks like.
