Replacing rod and main bearings.

I've pulled #1 piston before. I think it would be possible, but not worth the hassle. Engine hoist and a helper = engine easily removed.

Save yourself the trouble and pull the engine. Cross member is in the way and its a pain to get the oil pan off.

You can cut the crossmember and make it to where it bolts it...... and then you can "in frame" it. (ask me how I know!)
But just as DISTURBED said, just pull the engine in the end it is much easier.

My cousin said he did one on a 12v, but i would think the pan would be a pain! I changed a oil pan gasket once when i had the tranny out of my 01, and it was not fun replacing the gasket with the tranny out either.

I say pull the engine but my cousin didnt act like it was a problem because ive ask him before about doing a n frame with the engine in the truck!

He never said much about the crossmember,
He just acted like he jacked the engine up.

I cant see the point in doing bearings and leaving the worn out rings in the damn thing. I just tore and engine down that had near perfect mains the the cylinders will need 40 over due to wall wear.
