Finally put the j/att on my truck today, and i can already tell the clutch isnt going to hold up much longer. Pretty good slipps in 3rd and 4th.

So while im in the market for a new clutch, figured might as well do a turbo/injector upgrade so the clutch is mated to the proper power levels.

Ive searched left, right, up, and down. Just want to make sure this would be a good combo for what im looking for. Most the threads are closed now, so couldnt ask questions there.

I think im set on the ddp 125's and from what i have gathered it seems a 62/71/13 would be the way to go for what im looking for.

I dont drag race or sled pull. Ive had the truck a year and a half and its been to the track once for kicks and giggles. Dont really care about hp or having the fastest truck/being competitive. Just want a little more ummph around town, towing, and when the little ricer next to me thinks hes hot stuff.

Truck is the "DD" and tow my gooseneck and mudtoy every so often-

Looking for a setup so i dont have to constanly watch egts, good spoolup and still beable to keep the truck going 70mph on the interstate with the trailer loaded up. It was able to do it with the stooperchips i had on it, but took a bit to get there. Needed more throttle then i liked.

Also one thing i havnt been able to find- installation. Are these turbos "bolt" in?? Id like to find something that bascially comes with everything i need to put it in. Im running a 5" straight pipe with 4"dp. I dont have the time anymore to fiddle around to make things work, the bronco is no longer streetable so this is my only mode of transportation.

The S300 based turbos, and say a Holset HX40 will be a direct bolt-on, with exception of probably needing to swap the down pipe, sine they have 4" outlets, vs a 3" on a stock HX35. If you already had a HX40 on there, and wanted a 62/71 on there, you'd just need to tell HTT that it needed to have the HX40 flange on the turbine housing.

The 13 turbine housing is SS. I haven't heard much good about them. Having some sort of problem with them, though I don't know what it is.

The HTT 71 series has dual wastegates. The 12 housing will probably be just fine. FAST spool up!

what about a 14 housing?

Im still trying to gather how the different sizes behave and perform with different setups.

With a 12mm housing, would it be able to flow enough at higher rpms?

Edit- the pics in my op need to have an http:// removed.

The DDP 125's would work great with a 62/71/13 IMO. Also, get the "Hot" unlock for you J/A... a little more oomf than the standard J/A.

Not all HX40's have a T3 foot to match the stock manifold... some have a T4 depending on the application they came off.

with the 5spd you will be fine with the 14 on the exhaust housing. that will be a great combo and probably good for 500hp. I ran ddp 110's and the 62 and made 488

i was kinda thinking of doing the same, have a quick diesel truck on the street incase some ricer wanted to mess with ya. that sounds like fun. o well if ya got a bigger charger, then ya just gotta slip the clutch a little more.

I am hearing alot of great things about E.D.'s 68mm turbine, you might look at a 62/68/12 or 14 from them, I have ran a 62/71 with DDP 150's for years towing heavy and a heavy foot, and they stay cool as can be! you might go ahead and look at some 150's or so with these chargers

you will need an hx-40 downpipe, 2 bolts for the manifold, and maybe a fitting to mate the oil line to the charger, that's about it!

I was looking at the 150s, but id really like to gain some mpg if at all possible. I could care less about what the truck gets around town, i dont drive it enough during the week. I have a company vehicle i drive everyday. When i do drive the truck, it almost always sees interstate driving or pulling a trailer.

01quadcab- thats nuts. What else were you running to produce those numbers?

Thanks for the replys guys!

Is there anybody esle who makes a 62/71/13 or a 62/68/14?

I take it that a 14 will spool slightly later then a 13? By how much rpms? Something a cam could make up for later?

Not to hijack but I'm wondering same thing about the 62/68/14 but a reliable source tells me to go with 64/71/14. And they're both good for a compound setup.

just turbo injectors and the edge juice with hot unlock. it needed more fuel to be happy though. I think 150's would of been perfect.

What sort of boost number does a guy see making 500hp with a 62 and some 150's? Is it safe on stock retorqed head bolts?

You guys think stepping up to 150s would be better for a 62/14?

My main concern is egts. Dont want to have to watch them constantly. As it sits right now, i can get it to hit 1350 pretty easy in 5th on the interstate. Shes only pulling about 27psi too with a boost elbow.

Looks like this might have to be done sooner then I was planning. Bombing around in the truck last night with a few friends, clutch slipped pretty good, got a little warm, and wouldnt hold power in 4th or 5th.

Yes, and see below!

A 62/71 with 150's (DDP) I have ran this setup for years, and i barely see over 1200 egts unloaded! you can build around 50psi in OD! these chargers cool between 46-55! but I have a ran other chargers and this one is the best all around, thought I havent tried the 68mm turbine i would like too!

but this setup is easy for towing, around town, dragstrip etc.... stays cool, makes decent power, and doesn't fall off in the upper rpms!

as far as head bolts, I ran my old bolts to 120ftlbs, which obviously wasn't enough because I popped my HG, but you could run them on up to around 135 or higher$.02, but my new stock bolts are at 150ftlbs:evil

For the piece of mind I went with studs and had the head o-ringed when I blew my head gasket. Good thing I did it all at once since I have twins and 75psi now.
