Just finished up putting a Sir Micheals roll pan on my truck with a custom hitch that I built. It turned out really nice and works out a lot better for truck pulling, I ended up moving my hitch point over 8 inches forward. I made the hitch height where it is because when I sled pull and have my suspension blocks in it put my hitch at the correct height, so I had to notch the roll pan just a bit to clear the receiver tube. I tried to make the chain plate and the hitch look as close to the factory style as possible, here are a few pictures.

Dustin

Tig welding on the roll pan to fill the large gaps on both sides. Plus had to notch out around receiver tube.

Getting to tack up in the truck frame, notice how I cut the old hitch off.

Damn, that looks sweet. I love the way the bumper and hitch came out. As well as the Track Bars.

Now time for you to send me a price to build me a hitch and roll pan. Then traction bars!

Thanks for the compilments!

fordassassin, I love to build you a set just wish you were a little closer to my shop.

Let all of us know if you are wanting to make a few sets and ship. Seems we have a few interests as well.

i would like to have a hidden hitch.something behind my licence plate.and get a bone yard plate holder from the 70s that flips down when i need to use it.

Hey all,

I am in North central Iowa and if you are interested in a hitch like mine please PM me. They way that I have built mine is for truck pulling so it is bulit heavy. I use a 3" .250 wall for the tube, .375 (3/8") for the side plates and .250 (1/4") for the chain plate and then I use a Curt manufacturing receiver tube.
Most class 5 hitches use 1/4" side plates, and 4" tube with only a .125 (1/8") wall thickness. Wow that seems light to me. I will see what I have for material in these and labor to build and see if I can make these at a cost effective price.

Also making the receiver to be hid behind the licence plate wouldn't be a problem either.

Thanks,

Dustin

I can get you some tomorrow. Any particular spot you wanna see?

I have a class III hidden hitch behind the roll pan. I wish I had a bigger hitch like snoxracer has.

superdave, you got it ! now that looks nice.i have a dually and i have no hitch.i really have no need. until winter comes then i pull a bunch of people out of the drink.everybodys different ,but i think hitches look stupid.they take away from the overall look.imo..now snoxracer i am NOT yuk-in on your yum.your truck looks way better than seeing that big-ol bar that most have.and its cool you built it for pullin.
