Ive got an 02 dodge with 50000 miles the vp changed a few thousand miles ago and the lift pump was moved to the tank. The truck when idleing is erratic its like youve turned the ac on or held the clutch in for a bit and let it out, the idle will skip hot cold dont matter. Thanks for the input.

My first guess would be the injectors being dirty. Run some cleaner through it and see if it helps anything.

Ive run some of power serve's diesel kleen a good while back but not often enough maybe i will try it again.

My bet goes on a bad ecm, but you'll want to hook a scan tool to it and make sure all the sensor signals are up to par before you change any parts.

Sounds to me like a loose injector line nut. Letting a little air in makes them sound like that.

A loose injector nut would allow fuel to leak out, not suck air. Duh!
The OP is not referring to a constant miss...constant misses are easy to find and fix. I have a customer with a truck that's doing the same thing. We have gone as far as swapping out the ecm which fixed the problem, he did not want to spend the money on a ecm so he running it as it is with an intermittent rough idle.

I havent hooked it to a computer yet, but i bet your right with the ecm. Where is a good place to pick one up and what do you think one will cost? Thanks for the input

you could pick up a used ecm for around $100, a reman'd ecm for around $700-$800 or one from the dealer for over a grand. When mine went bad, I bought a used one from odieub on here and it fixed the problem. Although I wasn't as lucky as you, mine just died hauling a load one day, no symptoms, no codes, nothing.

Mine does it to but only when it's warmed up, cold it idles smooth and under a load it's smooth.
