Went out to Mid-Atlantic today to run on the dyno to see what changes i would see with some timing and pop off pressure adjustment.

a couple things i did notice with the changes was the boost and egts. before at ~14* timing 178 bar injector pop off i did 411hp/791TQ with boost reaching 42 psi and egts almost peg the gauge. also there was noticeable surge in the turbo at that time also. now with the timing set at 21* by plunger depth and the injectors set at 289 bar the boost only reached 20 psi and the egts went to 1200* and stayed there.

not sure if the change in timing and pop off is the result of seeing only 20 psi instead of 42 or not. i am happy with the overal response of the truck with the higher pop. also cruise temps appear to be down a little bit also.

the timing and pop off was the only thing changed and i seen a gain of 27 HP and 17 TQ. not sure if that is just due to the timing and pop off or just different dynos. last one was on a dynacom at st joe diesel and then this one on a dynojet.

my question is more or less what your opinions are as to why i only see 20 psi now instead of 42 like before. i have checked tubes and clamps all are there and tight, and it doesnt run high egts like i have a boost leak. could my timing and pop off pressures cause that much of a difference.

also the truck is still the same as my sig just the timing and pop off of the injectors is what changed.

on a side note this is non intercooled. dyno chart is attached.

thanks :Cheer:

Nice meeting ya today, i like the truck. Wouldnt mind having one in that body body style with a straight axle and a dually rear.

yeah it was nice meeting you guys today too. yeah we did that one because of the lack of electronic stuff to cross over. i almost bought a 72 custom ext cab long bed dully the other day to swap into but it sold or something cause i cant find the ad anymore.

i was impressed that i gained that much from timing and injectors. i have always heard that you dont see much from timing just changing where the power is located.

dynocom prolly loading the engine more then the dynojet. I have always noticed the same results as you between the 2 different brands dynos. Dynojet always shows less boost and less heat but usually more HP. Then you get on a dynodynamics and then your numbers are whatever the operator wants them to be. lol

oh i see lol i wish i would of gotten on st joes before i left to come back out to virginia so i had something to compare but they had a little communication error and didnt get to run. it was supposed to have been calibrated when i was there last and said to be accurate. who knows lol

First it was nice to meet you yesterday. Its tough to compair load dynos to dynojets. Now you have a base line on one and you can go from there.

Yeah it was nice to meet you too. I know it will be tough to compare with that one sine I am at different altitude and temp. Its was good to get out and down there it seems to be a great group of guys down there, definetly be back after more modifications to ccheck the difference
