Well last night went pulling and this is what happened kind of.

First run I missed shifting to 2nd out of first went to drive then back to 1st then to 2nd and finished the pull. Those were all really quick together so if it hurt it was just by a foot.

Second pull was better actually did it right from 1st to 2nd and left it.
on both those hooks the truck was in 2nd running 3600rpm off rev limiter.

Next hook forgot to put it down in first and started in drive and couldn't get the charger to do anything till almost 150ft. By that time it had went all the way to drive and was running 3000rpm.

With all that said does anyone have an opinion of there choice of which one to pick and what is the tire speed diff. between the two or anything I should change before I hook thursday? I don't have valve springs or cam yet so 4000rpm is out for now. I will get video's up sometime of the hooks.

If you have a stock charger you need to be hitting drive, unless your just running monster tires. Even with a 66mm s300 you should be hitting drive most of the time also if you good power.

Sorry I guess it doesn't help if I don't have info on my truck down does it.

Last dyno was April 26 @ 681hp 1252 Tq with 4.2 beta

Again this only the 2nd time out for this new setup.

Oh and if anybody has the tire speed for rpm/ gearing/ tire size I would greatly appriciate it. Thank you.

I would get a converter lock up module and play with it a little bit. Try pulling through drive, and then try pulling through 2nd and lock the converter. IT kinda depends on the track and the sled. I good speed sled you will probably want to hit drive, but on a cnstant drag sled 2nd with the converter locked up would probably be better.

It is very tough for a convertor lock up controller to work well for sled pulling, get a lock up switch. Give me your email I have a wheel speed calculator in xcel I can send you. Need email addy.

do not quote me, but i don't think garrett shields ever ran 3rd/ drive. he used 2nd and lock up. i'm not sure what he's doing this year though.

I tried 3rd on a very sticky track last night and it didn't like it. Ran 2nd in 4low the whole way.

Common rails can do it. You should be able to hit 3rd, unless it is a super short track. I know a guy with a common rail and 3.73 and he is hitting it all the time!
Garrett is hitting trying to hit 3rd now with the new gearing. Sadly he hasn't had the best of luck so far. 3.54 and a 12V you it is tough to hit 3rd locked. I have hit 3rd unlocked with an s400, but I have usually have to unlock the convertor.

I should add that I have 4:10's but I don't have the power like some that are posting in here.
