I"m bolting an S400 up to my '96 12v and I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to run my inlet piping. The turbo has a 6" inlet and I have a 90 rubber elbow and a 6" to 5" reducer. Problem is, the elbow points right at the battery.
I really don't want to have to move my battery to run this charger.

I know there's someone on here running a S400 on there truck.
How are you running your inlet tube and air filter?

Thanks in advance,
MJ

Matt, can you post a pic of the comp hsg so I can get a better idea of what you got.
Most of them you can get the correct elbow some we make a V band flange to use a factory style elbow and weld it onto the hsg.
The turbo on my truck is a s-468 that we welded a flange on works great.
You ought to come up to Quaker Steak this weekend, we could work something out for you.

I think he is referring to the inlet to the compressor, not the discharge.

Talk to Chris, (Muddin_dude06) he has one on his truck.

Is yours a manual?

My bad.
I'm confused, i'll just sit in the corner now.

lol thanks bud, Yea we need to meet up this weekend or something.
btw, Travis said to have you call him...he lost your number. ;)

My truck is an Auto. Im gonna try to run this as a single charger. Its got a lil exhaust housing so we'll see. lol

I really don't want to loose a battery. Someone has got to make some type of 180 degree pipe to fit in there. :D

Matt, just cut a hole in your hood and run an air filter on top of it, passenger's don't need to see anyways! :hehe: But seriously, can you run the intake a little down, with another 90 under the battery to get you headed towards the rear?

And what size S400 are ya running? I've got an S465 going on mine as we speak. :Cheer:

Dave

Hey "THE JOHNSON" ever come up with a solution? Sort of in the same boat. ;)

Call me sometime bud!!:poke:

On my 01 I moved the battery back where the air filter used to be. This gives alot of room for a filter up behind the headlight. The large piping runs out of room quick.

When you moved the battery back did you have to make something for it to sit on or did you modify the stock battery tray? Let me know, I'll be putting one in hopefully the following weekend! I have a 45 degree 5.5" elbow on the way and some 5.5" pipe to get the filter where you have it!

I took the stock tray and cut on the bottom bracing parts to make it work. I do need to make one more brace off of the front of the tray to the fender but what I have would probably hold up. Stock ground cable and made a hot cable out of welder lead to hook the batteries together. This is where the battery should have been from the factory.

i ditched the battery too,

my amsoil filter that replaced my s&b on my 66 gets sucked over the intake tube.

when i made a lip so it couldnt, i lost about 15psi os boost LOL.....

then again, what size s400 are you running?

Are any of you daily driving with one battery? Is that enough to turn this motor over? Any battery recommended over the other to pull single duty?

I think jegs and summit have ones that are rated a 1200+cca's. I thought there big one was around 1600cca's but not sure.

the only thing its got 2 batteries for is to run the grid heater and starter

ive been running w/ one batt since january, but i dont have a grid heater.
