Here are some pics of how toasted my DD was after 3 years of hard driving and 27 hooks. Its had dozens of 3rd gear street and drag strip launches as well. The clutch never slipped even this year after putting the p-pump on and adding some power it was still holding fine, was just very grabby to drive.

I'd say at some point it got hot...i dont think the center plate is supposed to be blue...

maybe, maybe not. i know towards the end of last year it was taking longer to lock up coming off the line and i wasn't about to try it with more power/rpm this year. i can't complain, it did a hell of a job the last 3 years and Peter stands behind his stuff 100% so i figured it was time to have him upgrade me to the IG

Looks good. You might have got some more hooks out of it but then you would be changing in the season so better to get it don now. Hows the iron giant workin out so far. Tim

well for the 20 or so miles ive put on it...it works great. it does not have the typical DD rattle that my 3850 had

I had a clutch built and put crower sintered iron disc in it. I went with a 4200 plate load like the IG but did not get the bronze inlay in the flywheel. I want to be able to slip the crap out of this thing if i need to.

man, that's what mine looked like after one season! I tore mine up good...

Let me try this another way....I cleaned the childish BS out of this thread.
If it comes back...I might clean out some children. :evil LOL

the last 2 seasons i was right around the 560-570hp mark.

there is about 3-4 pulls from my first season that if i could take them off this clutch, it prolly would have lasted another season or two. those hand full of pulls are responsible for most of the damage seen.

whatever you do if you are just learning to pull with a manual...do not watch videos of the big bad mod trucks leaving the lines with 4 disk clutches slipping and building boost. i thought thats how you had to launch a street truck but i was wrong.

Me too. I burnt up 2 singles before I knew better.:hehe:

care to school me before I blow mine up?

ok dont do this... (watch the dust come off the tires when i let the clutch out all the way)

that and don't just dump the clutch right on the starting line. That can lead to broken driveline parts. Slip the clutch out a few feet to help get things moving before you just up and let it all hang out.

I just creep it out the hole like I'm pulling out from a stop sign with a loaded trailer. The more thought goes into it, the worse you'll smoke the clutch. Just let natural instincts take over.

Come on now guys, go for the glory or dont go at all right?!?!?

Then i cry in my beer for a week wondering why my stuff is allways breaking down on me. LOL Tim
