Does anyone here run a SBC Triple disk in a G-56 on the street? How does it drive? If it is streetble it will go in a 2wd truck for street use so wondering how it shifts?

Jared

well it depends on your definition of streetable and on a side note why would you need a triple disk on a g56 aren't they known to grenade above like 500hp ??

Because a SBC DD 3600 will not hold now at 950ish hp and he wants to keep the standard. We have considered a NV 5600 but I don't think it will hold much more and the conversion will cost a considerable amount that could be put to upgrading the g-56 when parts come available. Streetable is him wanting to race it and be able to shift at higher rpms.

Why not try an Iron Giant first, or does South Bend not think it will hold either?

Just got off the phone with Peter and he suggested a Triple so I guess Project Cholo will be sportin a Big SBC sticker.... Thanks Peter....

Pretty sure there have been a lot of SB 3850 and 4200 cluthes hold 900hp +

most people say the iron giant (4200 feramic) is not streetable which it is very streetable as I everyday drove one for over a year and I think they are rated for 850+ hp hooked to a sled and I can shift it just as fast as I could the stock stock clutch, but if peter says triple you better go with a triple, not sure how it would be on racing though might be alittle slow on shifting

When I talked with Peter about the tripple, he said it was MORE streetable than the DD. There is a guy running around here with a 900+ hp Dirtymax that has a tripple and he back up that statement!

Has something to do with there being 3 disk's and they slip just a bit on take off and doesnt have that big single, DD jerk. Its still a 4200# plate load, so with upgraded Hydro it has the same pedal feel and a light DD.

IMO you dont need the 4200 PL with a triple. You could get away with a 3250 if you wanted. I run a 3250 triple in mine (all that will fit in my bellousing) and i love it. Its quieter then a dd, engages smoother then a dd and with thge 3250 cover its so easy to control the pedal.

Shifting wise for racing its a bit slower since there is more wieght hanging on the input but its not too bad.

I dont believe the tripple is weighted, although Im sure you can get it that way. This is just makeing me want to throw a tripple in even more!
