(originally posted on FTE and was suggested to post here for possible answer)

Picked up a slightly used but never abused SCT X3 and have updated firmware and tuner revision. Loaded X3LW Updater on PC and have VXBC9NH strategy (05 Ex w/ 12/04 build date).

Downloaded Spartan tunes from the archives for my strategy to the X3. The canned tune from SCT loads fine and the Spartan tunes load.

Problem is the Spartan tunes and PATS. Followed the instructions (key out, ON, 30-45 sec, key out, 10 sec, etc) but the 'theft' light doesn't go out. The 'theft' light showing a 1:6 code ( Faulty link between PATS module and EECV Go to main dealer). Didn't try to start the X with the Spartan tunes and went back to the SCT canned tunes (no theft codes).

Anyone have a similar issue? Is it OK to start/run with 'theft' code?

The corrupt issue is possible. The problem comes in that some of the tunes weren't specific to the Excursion. And I have personally seen where certain Excursion specific files won't work even in the same series. The SCT files are building off of what is in the truck. The spartan is not.

thanks for the responses.

trying to save a buck and see what a tuned 6.0 will do. the sct canned tunes bumped fuel mileage up, the 1-2 shift is Turbo350 B&M Street/Strip firm, :tree: and 2-3 shift firmed up.

time to pony up for custom tunes.

Also make sure that the SCT has the latest firmware off their site. Not sure if the past owner installed it. Think is was March or so

They usually try a prison style rape on an owner that tries to pinch pennies on them. 6.0L likes to be treated like a Ferrari.
