Setting up current valve body to be full manual

I currently have a valve body that had a Transgo-tfod diesel kit installed in it. I am wanting to go to a full manual valve body as the truck has been taken off the road and im gonna be turning it into a dedicated puller/racer this winter. I am wondering if i have to purchase the transgo tfod-3 kit and install it now or since it already has the diesel kit, if only small things need to be changed inside. Any info is appreciated.
 
if nobody divulges the info (hell, i dont know the actual difference), your best bet would be to buy the TFOD-3
 
What about third lockup?

If So, I take it people pulling are probably running low gears to get to third to lock up?

The guys that are pulling probably have lockup for all forward gears. And a professional done vb. mine locks as soon as it hits 3rd with the switch flipped.
 
Seems to me that if you've done the second gear lockup mod by filling the vb passageway up with jbweld/powerpoxy/etc like most do, then it should still work just fine... Call Transgo and find out. They may sell you a partial kit too. Never know.
 
All valve body's lock in 3rd. The only reason for a switch is to lock it earlier. You could leave the switch in the locked position and it will automatically lock once the truck shifts to 3rd

I have the transgo manual kit, it locks in 2nd all day long.....never tried first, I lock during the 1-2 shift.
 
As long as your selector is in drive it will lock all day with a switch when it shifts to second, try manual second and most won't lock up unless modified internally and not just a shift kit.

This is interesting, and probably why my TFOD-3 will not lock below 3rd
 
Im trying to find someone that will teach me how to build a manual vb to lock in 2nd. I almost pulled the trigger on a Goerend vb a few months ago.
 
My custom made Revmax valve body will lockup in all gears and I'm seeing 190psi at full throttle!
 
Anyone have pics of exactly what passage needs to be filled in? I have the full manual tfod-3 and would like lockup in all gears
