As referenced in my tranny thread, I'm shimming my governor springs as my tranny likes to shift at around 2800 WOT and with stock springs, this sucks! LOL. So, I'm following the writeup that BlackSkyRacing put up.
First off, the pump has never been worked on.... The safety wire was still in place, and the AFC had never been touched either, so doing the springs from above. When I measured stud protrusion on the first spring, it was about .027 inches, or 1 click as it turns out. Now, this is vastly different from what Stan (BlackSkyRacing) says is normally seen (.050, or 5 clicks)
I'm thinking this may be why my truck has always had a chronicly low idle speed, and is very, very easy to stall. I always blamed the stalling on advanced timing, maybe not? Also, truck does not start well unless you pedal the accelerator.
Anybody else seen this on a stock truck that's never been messed with?
