Well as my luck would have it. The day before we leave to go to TS im on my way to the car wash, and for some reason the bolts rattle out of my down pipe and it falls off. Ok no big deal, so I get a couple new ones and put it back on. Then the next morning before we leave, I went to start my truck and no lift pump. So I rewire the lift pump and were off to TS. We get about 25 miles north off Terre Haute on 63 and smoke starts rolling from my front wheel. My brake pedal goes to the floor, and my truck is all over the road. I pull over in this High School parking lot which by the way is right in the middle of prom and jack up the truck. I found a bad wheel bearing on the driverside front. So we piled into my buddies dmax with all the luggage and continued onward. Let me tell ya 6 people in an ex-cab dmax for eight hours is not fun. So after a wonderful weekend at TS I drive home and get a trailer, and drive all the way back to get my truck. Now the truck is at home and I need to change the wheel bearing. Any suggestions on this would be great.

It's a pretty straight forward R&R depending on how much damage it caused. Mine let loose on my old dodge and I said F it and replaced the hub assemblies on both sides, rotors, and pads, and I actually had to replaced the axle tube on the side that tank along with the inner seals and the u-joint...it's really not a hard job, but if you are going to replace any of the inner seals make sure and buy the seal tool from the guy who makes it...can't remember the name right now but he's on DTR...think he's based out of Canada but not sure...

use two air hammer's with flat chisel end on them and start working the corners loose, mine were a pain!

I took the big nut off in the center of the lug studs and removed the four bolts in the back side, but nothing would come apart from that point. I figured I would ask before I broke something.

What do you guys think about the DynaTrac free spin hub kit. I thought about going that route but its alot of money.

you can use the power steering and a socket to help push the bearing unit out. we did ours in a hotel parking lot one time. small torch might help loosen things up.

1 5/16 iirc.. not sure but we had hell finding one .. sears is the place.

EMS Offroad Custom 4x4 Fabrications
TRY this site found a kit for your truck on here much cheaper or step up to there extrem kit for the same price as dyna trac, was going to do this to my truck if i ever needed to

That kit looks nice. It would be $1000 for both stock wheel hubs from NAPA. They were 484 a peice. Or 1550 for the EMS free spin hub kit. Not sure what im gonna do yet.

if anything it will get ya by til you can purchase the free spin kit.

also, call and check availability. my neighbor got the EMS kit and had to wait 5 months for all the parts to come so he could get his done.

Wow 5 months, I wouldnt wanna wait that long. Napa has a cheaper version of the hub, but not sure what the difference is.

I know I was getting the better price but still at $140 its worth looking around. they came from a local parts house that is hooked up with national warehouses. Keep calling!
