Side cover removal

If you mean the tappet cover, not very easily, especially with the head on the truck. It takes less time to take off the VP + lines than it is to work around them.
 
My 02 is doing the same thing!!! I am just waiting for a few days off so I can pull my VP off. I am also replacing my lift pump while everything is out of the way.
