Smarty stack makes less power?

Just curious if anyone has an opinion why adding a smarty slows my truck down at the track. Overfueled maybe? I have an 01, SO VP, DDP 110, S357 turbo, Airdog 150, Adrenaline, Smarty, Art Carr converter, built billet trans, cold air intake. I'm only using the Smarty on even numbers and the adrenaline on pl08, but the higher the smarty, the slower the truck goes. It gets alot hotter on egt's but doesn't make alot more smoke. Any ideas? Thanks.

try running a little timing on the smarty, like sw3 timing 3 and see if it changes at all! if not yes, the smarty has been know the kill topend power

Yes I think it does loose power. I think it really hurt me on the dyno I thought I had a proven 500+ hp setup but only made 489.

try running it on different levels i know my truck doesnt run as good when i have it on the timing levels.

Smartys are great in a town vehicle. They make the truck snappy and throttle response like a gasser.

For maximum performance, they hurt you. Want to go faster, ditch the Smarty.

Smarty removes the rate limiter so the truck revs faster and makes power at a lower rpm hence the hp loss. Not a bad thing, you get more usable power even with a lower peak.

I agree 100%. My setup is pretty similar to Ph4tty's (minus the cam and springs and a slightly smaller charger), and I just hate driving my truck without the Smarty, just feels dead after driving with it on. Much more usable power for driving around. I have never dynoed with one, but I assume I would see a peak loss just like everyone else. Just take it off when you race, it only takes a minute.

I run better with it on the track, but then again i dont have much done to my truck and the difference is only .1-.2 sec faster

I didn't lose horsepower on the dyno, still dynoed 520 with and without the smarty stack on drag comp. My graph showed where the trucked died off after 105mph with smarty.
