Smarty=unknown software???

Went to install a smarty vp on a guys 99 and it came up as unknown software, so I updated on from mads site to the latest and still the same thing. Think he should flash the computer???? Never had a problem with a smarty before I think they are the best tuners out there!!! Anyone else ever had this problem??? I know bob is out til tomorrow no big rush here. Thanks

Chris this is very odd. The cal id must not be in the smarty's dadtabase.

Do this. Turn the key on and then press and hold the #5 key on the smarty. While holding the 5 key down plug the smarty into the obd port.

Once the smarty is powered up release the 5 key and wait for the update screen. Now press the #1 key 2-3 times to reveal the cal id and vin number from that truck.

Shoot me an email with those numbers and I will check it out.

For what its worth, I had the same problem on my 98.5 I had Dodge update, and still the same. Took it to Cummins, and he found that there was a Data Link issue in my truck, and could not communicate with my ecm properly. Hope this helps.
