went and bought the Quadzilla Adrenaline with the Pulse. Now... everything on my truck is 100% stock. I havnt had the chance to touch it yet, or even see it for that matter. I was informed that i might, if i felt so inclined, decide to hot rod a bit, and tie my driveshaft in a knot or make my transmission explode. Now, when i finnaly get back from this iraq place (in a week or so), i will prolly test out my new toy. How much is a decent automatic transmission capable of handling my lead foot gonna cost me, and what would yall recomend?

First thing to do is determine how much hp you have as a goal. You don't want to buy another tranny a year down the road because you bought for 400 hp and now you want 500.

Second, you will at least need a valve body and converter upgrade eventually. If you have a box, you will turn it up, and you will need an upgrade. I'm a manual tranny driver so search around for threads on autos.

There are a half dozen reputable builders. There was a thread on here just a few hours ago with lots of names.

Edit: And THANKS for serving in this war that I think is a stupid ass waste of time, money and lives of great Americal soldiers.

isnt there something i can buy that is rated for "impress chicks with shredded tires"? and imma google valve body and converter. when i find out what that is, ill consider buying it. and i agree with you about the war. its a contractor payday, thats all. these guys get like 4-6k a week for doing our jobs, lol.

I just recently heard about the price gouging going on. I say bring you all home and let them duke it out. God will sort them out in the end.

Good luck!

eh, the problem with these douchebags is they think barbie is the daughter of satan sent to their country to turn their daughters into *****s and transformers are actually trying to take over the world. seriusly. their stupid. unfortunately, its considered "wrong" to annihilate a group of people for idiocy.

www.goerend.com Give him a call and tell him what you will be running for power and doing with the truck. Best warranty and service IMO, and he will shoot you straight. If you want to run the truck hard even with not much power, get a billet input shaft. I broke mine with about 300hp.

imma do that as soon as i got a chance to. the link is blocked by the damn iraq internet filter. god damnit i cant wait to play with this beast. this waiting to drive my truck is gonna kill me.

My advice, and it's free so take it for what you pay for it, look in your local area and find out who handles what tranny wise. Pick the shop you like the best and go with it. You can have the best tranny in the world and a $15 solenoid will drive you up the wall trying to diagnose the problem yourself since the shop who will honor the warranty is 2 hours away. Having said that, with you being in the service and subject to Uncle Sams whims pick a brand of tranny with a pretty good dealer network.

As for what to do to the tranny? Right now a Converter and VB will do you just fine, if you don't tow the stock clutches etc will hold a very surprising amount....but......(you just knew there was gonna be a but in there somewhere, didn't ya? LOL )..if you PLAN to go out and see how quick you can take tires off, go with a full built tranny from the get go with billet input and intermediate shafts, triple disc converter and severe duty clutch packs. This will allow you to grow into the tranny rather than outpacing it REALLY quick with the power you are GONNA add. Diesel HP is more addictive than crack cocaine and sweeter than honey, you just can't get enough.

I have the Adrenaline on my 2002 Ram also....and trust me, you WILL want to run it on the highest setting, trust me LOL That being said, get the best tranny you can afford, you can never have too strong of a transmission.

thanks, imma get with goerend when i get back stateside and get a good transmission i can do anything with. cant ever have too good of something, right?

HTS fan here great service great product great pricing

I put about $2500 into my trans. The parts were all bought at cost and labor was pretty much free (some pizza and drinks was about it).

Billet torque convertor, IE billet input, 48RE planetaries, couple Sonnax "go fast" parts, Trans Go shift kit, PML Deep Pan, added extra clutches/steels wear possible, etc.

Honestly these transmissions aren't all that hard to work on and I didn't see paying $4000-5000 when I could just do it.

The previous owner had paid $1800 to rebuild the trans about a year before I bought it....

When I tore it apart 4 years later, the trans was about ready to blow apart. The planetaries were all junk. One had a pin coming out and cutting a groove into the shell gear (whatever it's called), another had a planet that was worn out. Several of trust washers and bushings were junk from improper installation. I think lots of used parts got used that were worn. The planetaries that were in there where actually for the V6/small V8 transmissions (they can interchange) to give you an idea!

see, the problem with me working on it myself is that i am mechanically retarded. i have a snowballs chance in hell of putting a working transmission together. i can break just about anything though. thats what im trying to avoid :D
