So pump work in 6 speed?

have a guy interested in an injection pump its an SO pump but he has a 6 speed with the Ho pump in it that is dead..... now i've always been told that the so pump will work in a 6 speed no problem and that the so is actually a better pump if your goin to do any moding to your truck??? thnx
 
It will work and is a better pump for moding.

Somebody will chime in with the why's.
 
I have always been told the SO pump responds better to mods. I put an SO pump on my truck and it runs better now than it did before.
 
We put an so on a 6 speed ho a while back and saw a 30hp gain on the dyno. It was also the same dyno same day no funky numbers.
 
thnx for the reply's guys just wanted to make sure i didn't steer anyone in the wrong direction...... dose any one know y exactly it is a better pump than the HO.... if i remeber right it was somethin to do with the internal plungers maybe?
 
Something inside had limited the fule volume, electronics maybe?
 
the ho vp44 has smaller plungers and higher pressure the sovp44 has bigger plunger and lower pressure

BINGO. The HO pump is limited to 500ish RWHP. You can get more out of it but it takes some work. The one thing you'll notice going from and HO pump to and SO pump is the loss of low end grunt. The HO has more TQ down low.
 
man all i can say is that im happy to be finding all this out because when i fist was looking for trucsk everyone was saying how much better the h.o pump was. as in dealers not you guys. sure am happy that i have a s.o pump.

Which is why you can get a hotrod pump and have the best of both worlds. HO cam on a SO pump and gawd knows which electronics,...

i got question bout this i have ho pump on my 01 and put adr and smarty to get the 4000rpm and 3700 all i gettin would that ho pump have somethin to do with it i been told that it is
 
What's the reason the HO pumps suck so bad? Already modfied fuel solenoid or something of that nature?

Which cam has more lift?
 
HO pumps have smaller plungers resulting in less flow but more pressure. HO pumps react a little better to injectors on average then SO's. The SO pump has larger plungers resulting in lower pressure but more flow generally liking the fueling boxes and fuel/timing boxes better than the HO.
 
i did 440 with jammer 4s edge jammer bb turbo(58/68 non gated) and water meth on a stock trans. lol that sucks man. time to get a better pump. oh and was that on a stock tranny as well for you?
