I have to go to my friends shop and change his filters for him, he has no tools and I want to make sure I bring the right sockets for it Thanks for any help givin

1/2 drive for the top filter. 35mm for on the frame.

i thought the frame rail cap was 36mm which is the same as the oil filter cap.

To be quite honest, I've always used big azz crescent wrench.:hehe:

haha that's what i hafta use on mine cause of the amsoil by-pass system i have. There's a 90* fitting on the top of the aluminum cap and a big socket wont fit on cause of the fitting...so i just use a big crescent wrench like you said. I do normally use a big socket tho when working on other trucks.

i wouldnt recomend using a 1/2 drive on the top one I have seen them crack and the cap is $60 to replace it. just my 2 cents

the snap on socket I have for 6.0 powerstroke filters is 24mm, 35mm and 36mm

all i know is...the socket for the frame fuel filter cap is exactly the same for the oil filter cap.
