So I bought a 99 today its a 2X4 3500 auto Dualy with a stright axle???

so its lacking the body and I have all the paperwork from when dodge did the motor swap from the bad 53 block

I trust the guy with my life....

He said that the body next to it was the one that came off it the odometer read 26,000 and look untempered with

motor looks like new hell the oil was still caramel color

so with this deal I got a new single tire rear axle limited slip (because duals suck )

the guy that took it apart unplugged everything the brake booster is all still there everything they just lifted the cab nothing is cut all unplugged its all nice so........

I am going to P-Pump the ***** in good time and stuff it in my 90

but for now I need another motor for the 90 because the current is leaking oil REAL bad

so now for the question since I know 12Vs

I want to pare this thing to the getrag I have one on the shelf that I just rebuilt with a new clutch will it be a direct bolt up to the 90 adapter plate?

and what wires are needed to run and drive that thing I have a new throttle petal from a 98 that will work for that issue what all requires power and what dont I want to make this a 3 wire motor if ya know what I mean

Thanks Guys

Brice

If your plans are to P-pump it anyway, I would do that from the get go and be done with it, otherwise, is the truck a manual? If it is you can take the wiring harness and ECM and make it a 3 wire engine, it has been done. An auto motor can be done as well, just takes more effort since that ECM will be looking for inputs from the tranny.

What do you plan on doing with the truck?

Well right now I just need a runner it is a auto but will be pared to a 5 speed I need it to work in my first gen for about 2 months then I will pull it P-Pump it hot rod the hell out of it on the stand and put it back in the first gen but right now I need the first gen for a run around truck and a puller (trailer) for some up coming jobs

whats needed to do the 3 wire thing?

and if it is like a 12V on the backside it should be a direct bolt in to the getrag in my 90

I'm not sure what the question is here.

Why not just reassemble the truck? Your looking and some work to make the 24v run on its own.

well the 90 motor in the truck is shot and it needs some work on a stand but that will knock one truck out of the fleet I have this 24V motor so I want to run that for a month or 2 to get my jobs done then I can rebuild the 90 motor

ok

I bought a 99 rolling chassie 24V auto Dually

I have a 1990 5 speed diesel

I want to put the 24V in the 1990

whats needed to make it work

I would but I dont have the time no the supply's it is an extended cab long bed and all I got is single cab long bed and I dont want to shorten the frame and drive lines no will the auto hold up to what I want to do

Whats needed to wire it up how do I wire it up to work with the 12V starting system I will use all my 12V senors for oil water ect ect but how do I fool the ECM

Look in the conversion forum. I have a thread with all the wiring info.

No, that was for a 6.0 radiator, easiest way I could do it. To the best of my knowledge you would just use the 90 lower hose.

We had a few of the straight axle 2wd's at my old job. All ex-government forest service rigs. Just save your self a headache when dealing with the front end and tell the parts guy its a 4wd. Basically a gutted D60. Easy swap to 4wd.

ok so

where do I find this

The VP has independent power that needs to be supplied by a simple relay. Theses relays have 4 posts (some have 5, if so disregard post 87a)

Post 30______constant hot

Post 86______brown and white from the engine harness

Post 85______ground

Post 87______Red/white or Red green from the engine

then dertimine if I have the

Single plug
or the
2 plug

then hook all this stuff up and it will become a 6 wire motor lol

VP44 relay control_____Brown/white tracer______________relay post 86

VP44 Power__________ Red/white tracer________________relay post 87

ECM power___________Heave gauge red/ white tracer______Constant hot

ECM/sensor grounds___4x black/brown tracer____________GROUND

Key on ECM__________light green/black tracer____________ignition hot

Grid heater__________yellow/black tracer and orang/black tracer____small posts on dodge heater solenoids

00-02 engines need to retain the WHITE/ORANE wire from the harness. This gives a speed signal to the ECM so it will fuel.

Its more like 10 counting the grounds.

Determine what harness you have.

Pull the appropriate wires, use 2 of them for the relay as noted

well your right it was cake took me about 30 min and runs like a champ I bought some weather pac plugs wired them all up wired the first gen to the plugs and just waiting for the silicone to dry on the getrag cover and I will have a 100% drop-in :woohoo:

so next weekend I will be doing the swap :pop:
