Sputter at high rpm's

So i started driving my 7.3 idi more and ive noticed that at high speed/ high rpm it sounds like its sputtering akd it feels like it too im not sure if its the old fuel getting worked through the engine or the seafoam i added to it and ideas/ help would be great:bs:

How old is the fuel? Does it make any smoke when it sputters?

About two months then i filled it up and it still did it and it smokes alittle bit not much

What color of smoke? Blue? White? Black?

its not much at all when it runs and when it starts it blows blue a little but goes away

What's your timing set to? You could try and let some ATF soak in the IP overnight and advance the timing a tad

Lift pump going bad maybe??? Just thinking out loud, I know nothing about the idi engines

How many miles? Fuel system components usually last around 100k

179,000 ive looked into a new pump its just they aint cheap

Do as I suggested, you might be able to buy more time by cleaning it and advancing it...but eventually it will need replaced

Ok and timing is just turning the pump a little bit

No,buy a new fuel filter, fill fuel filter with ATF, run truck a bit to let ATF in the injection pump, let it sit overnight. Advance the timing a dimes width. Start it, go from there

I lived by that stuff when i had a gasser just wonderin if its the same on a diesel
