I just purchased a Smarty in which I am highly anticipating its arrival, I plan on stacking it with my Edge Juice with Attitude. I have read much about the two combined and would like some tips from first hand experience as far as level setting of both and the injection duration. Also I read the whole thread about the speculation of an SO3 update that started two years ago, is it ever going to happenn!?!? HAHA

I had tried that stack before. It dosent really work all that well. I actually lost 50 HP on the dyno. Way better off with the smarty and a pressure box, like a Dr Performance or a Edge EZ or a MP8

I can terll you i got my smarty today and stacked it with my tst comp box and boy shes a smokey one ive got schied 150's and a htt 62 mm charger and it still needs more air i would reccomend a turbo upgrade

You should've saved your money, that stack does lose power on the dyno but feels quicker down low due to Smarty's low end grunt. I hope you didn't buy it new for $685 or whatever it is now.

No pressure boxes in these parts. :hehe:

lol i can atess to the 50hp loss with smarty. just dynoed last week with my twin turbo dd truck and did 507 with the smarty. took it off and added my old school van akken timing box and it did 551. smarty does make it fun to drive though with the low end grunt.

Just to clarify, it wasnt the smarty that lost the power.. it was the edge. I had the Hot unlock Edge. I tried many different combos that day on the dyno. I tried with the edge alone, edge with a pressure box, smarty and the edge, smarty with the edge and pressure box, smarty alone, and smarty with the pressure box... the smarty with the pressure box was the best by far.

I had picked up a used on off the for sale forum, the biggest problem i feel right now is my truck is very lazy down low, so i knew this would help, eventually I will be buying a turbo because i know thats my biggest problem is my stock turbo but i just spend a bunch on my trans so im putting that off for a while. I also bout it with the hope that soon they will come out with a 4k update... Sooner or later anyway haha.

Just to clarify, we're talking about VP44 trucks up in here

Kevin, he has an 02. No pressure boxes are available for his truck. Timing and duration only.

On my 02, I like to race using the Smarty and an Edge Comp box. I can control the fueling while I am building boost better with the Smarty. As others have said, the Smarty is also fun to drive on the street.

As far as settings, on the Comp box I run main level 5, sublevel 4. On the Smarty, I run Level 4, torque 3, timing 2, and duration 1. It's easy for me to remember....

Isnt the edge mainly for timing ? I thought the smarty was just for the fuel on even levels?

I have better all around performance just running the edge comp box, than the edge juice. Never liked the smarty/edge comp box stack myself.

The smarty 3 cylinder idle/high fix is a beautiful thing in the winter. My truck will hardly smoke during a cold start, 3 cylinder idle.

You can adjust the smarty to work better but its time consuming. Which SW you running and are your pump tapped. I also hated the surging when running cruise control.

I have a stock rebuilt vp44 i never seem to have problem with fuel cut out at high rpm, no pops at all.

your truck is gonna need a turbo asap, if ur still running the hy then its gonna get so hot and 150s!! save up for a turbo buddy

Nan, a stock VP truck can take the big injectors. Just have to be smart about it.

I've been running 300HP (DPP sized) sized injectors over a bone stock (400000km) HX-35 last few weeks (ok months). I just spray water/methanol and my egt's are in check. Still tweaking the twins combo and just have little or no time to finish my combo.

Really think the injectors are rated at 150HP, so forget about the power ratings. Today I drove the truck, with AC running and 80 deg ambient temps. Max egts was 1000-1100 deg's.

My EGTs arent terrible though. I turned the Edge up as high as it would go while towing my buddies 3rd gen and a 2500 lb trailer and flat out the hottest it got up a hill was 1350, which really ain't that bad. I would like a nice turbo though, nothing big, i've been looking at the Aurora 3000 which I think would fit well with my package.
