I built my own set of stacks and have one question about the install. Do you just drill a hole in the bed or an oval for the Y pipe? I have a 5" Y pipe and am thinking about drilling an oval so the pipes will actually sit on top of the bed...or is that a bad idea?

Also, where is a good place to get stacks clamps that attach the stacks to the side or front of the bed?

Paul

i cut a five inch hole in my bed and the pipes look fine in there. any fleet pride truck parts store should have the clamps if not check iowa80.com i believe they have them

I cut a hole in the center of the bed and used a Y pipe. I got my clamps from here 5 Inch Curved End Stack - DYN25-50036CP | Huckstorf Diesel Pump and Injector Service Inc of Wisconsin Alot of guys use the Staxx Clamps http://www.uintadieselperformance.com/Staxx_Clamp.html No doubt they are beefy, but a little too pricey for me.

Huckstorf looks good to me! Not going to spend 200+ on a clamp. That one clamp will cost more than my entire setup :bang

What size Y pipe and hole?

Thanks for the information.

I used a 5" Y pipe since I have 5" exhaust. I used a sawzall to cut the hole. I kept trimming the hole until the Y pipe fit.

you dont have to have the pipes on the bed floor but it makes it easier buyin new stacks mine are only thirty two inches tall and stick up above the cab a little bit

I got my clamps through summit, ($14 a piece). I also did a few tack welds around my stacks and placed the clamps over to hide the welds. I didn't attach to the stacks to the bed at top of headerboard to reduce vibrations.
