i've been doing research the last couple of weeks, to find the right diesel, transmission etc.... to put in a 69 gmc suburban, i know i want the LBZ but i cant find a manual transmission that will hold up to the power, plus if i want to put a chip in, the tranny will break that much sooner, the zf6 is the closest one i can find. has anyone had any problems with the zf6 not handling aftermarket power? and if you can tell me what hp and torque ratings and what rpm that your running with what manual transmission. it would be much appreciated.

The zf6 is a great transmission. Johnboy, 05 LLY and OSUdmax (I think) among others have abused them without too many issues. I think once you get rid of the dual mass flywheel and put a clutch in it, all is well.

yeah, the ZF6 is what GM put behind the Dmax all the way up until the introduction of the LBZ. Even then they put them in the 06 LLY which is the same engine as an LBZ just a dumbed down tune - which can be changed just like the LBZ with the LBZ tuners to make it an LBZ.

They are plenty capable of handling anything you can throw at it with a stock engine and hold very well even behind 800=rwhp pulling trucks and is found in the quickest manual transmission diesel truck of any brand. They are good once you put a good clutch in them!

Got pics of the 'burb? :D
